Rockstar offers Standard and Ultimate editions for the console launch. The important choice is not simply physical versus digital, because the boxed version also delivers the game through a download code.
Standard Edition
The Standard Edition contains the complete base game. Rockstar says Standard owners can purchase the Ultimate Edition Upgrade later through the PlayStation or Microsoft storefront after the game code has been redeemed.
That upgrade path lowers the pressure to decide immediately. Players interested mainly in the story can start with Standard without closing the door on the additional package.
Ultimate Edition
The Ultimate Edition includes the game and an upgrade package threaded through chapters of Jason and Lucia’s story. Announced items include vehicles, weapon variants, clothing stores, customization businesses, safehouse vehicles and other in-game rewards.
These are game items rather than a different core campaign. Rockstar has not described the package as required to access the main story.
Pre-order package
Digital pre-orders and qualifying purchases made before November 20, 2026 include the Vintage Vice City Pack and one month of GTA+. The pack includes a 1955 Vapid Stanier Sedan and garage, outfits and hairstyles, and an exclusive weapon pattern.
Physical pre-orders include the Vintage Vice City Pack but Rockstar’s support page does not list the GTA+ month in the physical package.
The sensible buying decision
Choose Standard if you want the full game and prefer to judge optional content after launch. Choose Ultimate only if the announced customization businesses, vehicles and story-linked rewards already justify the additional price for you.
Because the physical release contains no disc and there is no physical Ultimate Edition, collectors should read retailer descriptions carefully before ordering.
